The Kentucky Board of Dentistry is an agency governed by the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The Board is responsible for all of the administrative functions of the Commonwealth in the regulation of the profession of dentistry. The Board is a separate and distinct entity from any professional association. The main purpose of the Board is to protect the public by administering the Dental Practice Act and regulating the dental profession. The Cabinet, according to regulation, shall have the duties, responsibilities, power, and authority relating to labor, wage and hour issues, occupational safety and health of employees, child labor, apprenticeship, workers’ compensation insurance, and all other matters under the jurisdiction of the Labor Cabinet. Kentucky Labor Cabinet, or Kentucky’s OSHA, protects workplace and labor issues and promotes workplace justice. New York’s OSHA, through formal and informal inspections by staff members, patients, and concerned citizens, has increased their inspections. The Kentucky Board of Pharmacy serves the Commonwealth to promote, preserve, and protect the public health, safety, and welfare through effective regulation of the practice of Pharmacy. The Board of Pharmacy accomplishes this mission through examination, testing and credentialing of prospective pharmacists, regulation and discipline of all licensed pharmacists, and through appropriate communication of information and laws pertaining to the practice of Pharmacy in Kentucky. The Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure is responsible for protecting the public by ensuring that only qualified medical and osteopathic physicians are licensed and initiating appropriate disciplinary action when violations of the Medical Practice Act occur. In addition, the Board regulates the practice of Physician Assistants, Surgical Assistants, Athletic Trainers and Acupuncturists in the Commonwealth.
